Indonesia Dieng Cultural Festival attracts over 90,000 visitors. More than 90,000 visitors from Indonesia and overseas attended the Dieng Cultural Festival last weekend.
“The event was a success. If we calculate all the tourists that came, there were more than 90,000 travelers. Tickets were sold out; all the hotels were fully booked. The festival is indeed a blessing for the people living around Dieng,” Dieng Pandawa tourism community head Alif Fauzy said on Sunday as quoted by kompas.com.
Held annually in the Dieng Plateau in Banjarnegara, Central Java, as a community celebration, the festival presents a variety of art and cultural performances including a unique ceremony where local children’s dreadlocked hair is cut off by customary leaders.
This year’s ritual involved 11 children and featured music performances and a wayang (puppet) show.
Seeing the potential, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has stated that improvements will immediately be made to further boost the destination’s potential.
“[This destination] must be managed properly. In addition to Banjarnegara and Wonosobo regencies, we will add more entry points from Batang regency and manage Dieng as a tourism area,” said Ganjar. (tif/kes)
